Vampire Weekend, the New York band that went from unknown to buzz status to being indie rock stand-bearers during the course of its debut album run, announced details of its follow-up, "Contra," on the band's own website today (Sept. 15). The album is due January 12. 2010 on XL.

Vampire Weekend previewed one new song during its very infrequent performances this spring and summer. The group debuted the song "White Sky" during its appearance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" in March; it reprised the track during its rain-soaked set at the All Points West festival in New Jersey in late July.

Vampire Weekend's self-titled debut was released in Jan. 2008 and has since sold 466,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The full track list for "Contra" is:

"Horchata"
"White Sky"
"Holiday"
"California English"
"Taxi Cab"
"Run"
"Cousins"
"Giving Up the Gun"
"Diplomat's Son"
"I Think Ur a Contra"
