U2 will headline a one-day outdoor music festival Aug. 25 at Ireland's Slane Castle. The show will be the band's first in its homeland in four years, and the first return to Slane since supporting Thin Lizzy there 20 years ago. Also performing at the 10-hour festival will be the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Kelis, JJ72, and Relish.
"We've waited a long time to do this," drummer Larry Mullen Jr. said. "It's going to be a beautiful day." The show will conclude the European leg of the band's world tour in support of "All That You Cannot Leave Behind" (Interscope), dates for which have not yet been announced. The North American leg of the tour will kick off March 24 in Miami.
Tickets for the event, priced at #36.50 (approx. $53 U.S.) and limited to six per person, will go on sale March 10. The tickets will be available in person from 65 outlets throughout 32 countries, and online from Ticketmaster Ireland. For more information, visit the band's official Web site.
