Flights from the U.K. have been grounded for a second day by volcanic ash, which has left several acts' appearances at Coachella in serious doubt this weekend.

The restrictions on U.K. airspace will continue until 1am BST on April 17. Transport minister Lord Adonis told the BBC at 1pm BST today (April 16) that he expects severe disruption for at least the next 48 hours.

Gary Numan, Bad Lieutenant and the Cribs were caught in the travel disruption yesterday and unable to make the journey.

Los Campesinos! and Frightened Rabbit have also been unable to fly to the U.S. Los Campesinos! has already pulled out of their April 16 slot at New York's Culture Shock festival. "Really, really disappointed and I hope we can make it up to the promoters and attendees sometime, but this is totally out of our hands," the band said in a Tweet.

The Cribs was on a plane at Heathrow when informed of the no-fly ruling and the band was looking into traveling to Amsterdam, in order to get a U.S. flight. But their slot at the festival is later today so their only hope may be getting a different day to play at the festival.

Other U.K. acts such as Muse, Gorillaz and Florence and the Machine were already in the U.S.

The focus is now shifting to disruption to U.S. acts playing in the U.K. in the days ahead. Lou Reed's Metal Machine Trio is due to play the Ether Festival at London's Royal Festival Hall on April 19. A spokesman confirmed that Reed arrived in the country on Wednesday.

The New York Dolls play London's Koko on April 19 and will be traveling by bus from France on the day of the show. The band will dedicate "Jet Boy" to former manager Malcolm McLaren, who died last week.
