Travis Morrison Gets His 'Freak' On With New CD

Former Dismemberment Plan frontman Travis Morrison will return Aug. 21 with his second solo album, "All Y'All." The 11-track Barsuk set features his band the Hellfighters and was produced by Morrison's ex-Plan bandmate Jason Caddell.

After first attempting to record new material in 2005, Morrison took a break last year before reconvening the band in Chicago with Caddell. "The Plan was kind of theoretically funky; funky for Built To Spill fans," Morrison told Billboard.com in early 2006. "This is a lot earthier. I don't want to say it sounds like an R&B band, because that evokes John Legend. It doesn't sound like John Legend and it doesn't sound like the Black Crowes. But it's the loosest thing I'll have ever done by a wide margin."

The entire new album is available for streaming on Morrison's Web site, as is an MP3 of "As We Proceed." Morrison isn't planning to tour at present but has two shows on tap in his Washington, D.C., hometown in the coming weeks: Sept. 1 at IOTA and Oct. 25 at the Rock and Roll Hotel.

The Plan recently regrouped for two D.C. shows to raise funds for J. Robbins' infant son Callum, who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy. "I don't think the Plan is getting back together, except to drink beer, but being able to play those shows and have it turn out the way it did made me think that maybe I have done something with my life after all," Morrison writes on his site.

Here is the track list for All Y'All:

"I'm Not Supposed To Feel Like You (But)"
"As We Proceed"
"Catch Up"
"East Side of the River"
"I Do"
"Just Didn't Turn Me On"
"You Make Me Feel Like a Freak"
"Hawkins' Rock"
"Churchgoer"
"Book of Names"
"Saturday Night"
