"They're the new bands on the modern rock scene and we think they will work together well," Pinnacle Entertainment's Scott Sokol tells Billboard.com. "We plan to work with radio stations in each market and these are bands that are on modern and active rock radio and MTV's playlist."
Sokol says he and his fellow organizers -- Zig Zag's Drake Sutton-Shearer and Sanctuary Group's John Boyle -- are shooting for 50 dates in 2,000-seat venues. The tour has linked with Music Today to handle pre-sales, and the plan is to keep the average ticket price low.
The trek will kick off March 4 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., with the rest of the itinerary currently being confirmed.
Trapt has a short slate of tour dates kicking off Monday (Jan. 26) in Seattle. The remainder of the schedule takes them across Canada and finds them linking up with Nickelback for three shows.
The band is touring in support of its self-titled Warner Bros. debut. The set peaked in May at No. 42 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.07 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album boasts the single "Headstrong," which topped Billboard's Mainstream and Modern Rock Tracks charts and reached No. 16 on the Hot 100.
Follow-up "Still Frame" reached No. 1 on the Mainstream tally and No. 3 on the Modern Rock chart. The new single "Echo" debuts this week at No. 40 on the Modern Rock chart.
