Tosca Reconvenes For 'Delhi 9'

Comments

Electronic music duo Tosca (Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber) will release a new studio album, "Delhi 9," Feb. 25 via Dorfmeister's G-Stone imprint and distributed in North America via Studio K7. The set will feature a bonus CD of 12 piano compositions based on restructured and remixed tracks from the regular album. "Delhi 9" is said to lean more on live instrumentation than the pair's familiar blend of samples.

Anna Clementi, who previously contributed to the group's 2000 album "Suzuki," lends her vocals to the tracks "Me and Yoko Ono," "Rolf Royce," and "Oscar." MC Tweed of Different Drummer Sound System sings "Gute Laune," while Austrian MC Sugar B contributes to "Every Day Every Night."

The new album was recorded over the course of two years and during breaks between Dorfmeister's ongoing eponymous collaboration with Peter Kruder. "With Rupert, I'm able to show other sides of my musical personality," Dorfmeister told Billboard in 2000. "What's especially fun about Tosca is the tension between the two of us," the classically trained Huber said. "I'm not a DJ, so I don't listen to the same music as Richard. For me, listening to club music is not part of the job."

Although no Tosca shows are as yet set, Huber will join Lukas Ligeti and Mai Lingani for a collaborative concert Thursday (Nov. 21) at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York.
