Tori Amos Plans North American 'Walk'

Tori Amos will support her upcoming Epic Records debut, "Scarlet's Walk" with a North American tour kicking off Nov. 7 in Tampa, Fla. Unlike Amos' last trek, which found her returning to solo piano/keyboard performance, she'll be joined on the 28-date run by longtime collaborators Jon Evans (bass) and Matt Chamberlain (drums/percussion). Singer/songwriter Howie Day, an Epic labelmate, will open all of the shows.

The tour will last until nearly the end of the year, closing with a Dec. 21 performance at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. At deadline, ticket sale information was available for only one date on the tour, a Nov. 17 visit to Providence, R.I.'s Performing Arts Center. That show will go on sale Sept. 28 via Ticketmaster.

As previously reported, "Scarlet's Walk" is due Oct. 29, and is led by the single "A Sorta Fairytale." Amos' official Web site has a link to an Epic/SoapCity.com sweepstakes where fans can listen to the track while entering to win a copy of the album, a signed photo of Amos, and a Sony CD Walkman. A commercial seven-inch vinyl single is scheduled for an Oct. 8 release.

Described as "a sonic novel in which each song represents a specific stop on the way across America," the album centers around the female character Scarlet who travels the country "in search of answers, in search of herself." The album was produced by Amos and recorded in Cornwall, England.

The enhanced disc will feature a CD-ROM element that will allow users to access "Scarlet's Web," an exclusive section of Amos' Web site that will offer additional songs, live footage from her tour, and behind-the-scenes video content. And while the current contents of toriamos.com feature only news, a message board, and mailing list sign-up, a newly designed feature-filled site is due to launch early next month.

"Scarlet's Walk" is the follow-up to Amos' final Atlantic album, "Strange Little Girls," which debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and No. 3 on Billboard's Top Internet Albums chart. The album -- which featured interpretations of songs by Lou Reed, Depeche Mode, Eminem, and others -- has sold 361,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
