Top Acts Offer Names For Fans' E-Mail Addresses

Sugar Ray, Korn, Dr. Dre, Metallica, Eminem, and matchbox twenty are among the more than 30 artists that are teaming with Hollywood, Calif.-based XingMail Inc. to offer their fans artist-branded E-mail addresses, Billboard Bulletin reports. Other artists offering the service via their official Web sites include Uncle Kracker, Willa Ford, Ruff Ryders, Rob Zombie, Randy Travis, Motley Crue, and Disturbed.

Metallica, the first act to offer the service, already has more than 200,000 users registered for @metallica.com E-mail addresses, XingMail reports. CEO Andy Hong says the branded E-mail service gives artists the ability to direct-market to fans.

Some acts, including Outkast, will offer E-mail as a premium service on their sites, charging $19.95 per month. In exchange, subscribers receive exclusive information, preview tracks, and offers on merchandise and concert tickets. "It's a fan-club type of concept but a new way of generating revenue," says Hong.
