Tom Jones Reappears With Star-Studded Set

It's not unusual for Tom Jones to re-emerge every decade or so. The '60s icon returned to the charts in 1988 with "Kiss," recorded with the Art Of Noise, and in 1995 with the dance hit "If I Only Knew." Now the Welsh crooner is back, pairing with Robbie Williams and Chryssie Hynde -- as well as a host of indie rockers -- on his forthcoming set.

Dubbed "Reload," the album will be released Sept. 27 by V2 in Europe, Japan, and southeast Asia; independent label Gut will issue the disc simultaneously in the U.K. No North American deal has been struck for the set.

The album will feature Jones -- best known for the songs "It's Not Unusual" and "What's New Pussycat?" -- collaborating with such artists as Van Morrison ("Sometimes We Cry") and Stereophonics ("Mama Told Me Not To Come"). Other guests on the disc include Manic Street Preachers' James Dean Bradfield, Zucchero, the Divine Comedy, and Portishead.

The first single, "Burning Down The House," features the Cardigans. It is slated for a Sept. 6 release.
