The Shins Head Nominees For mtvU Woodies

With three nominations, the Shins lead the pack for the 2007 mtvU Woodie Awards. The group is up for Woodie of the year, the alumni Woodie and the viral Woodie honors. Modest Mouse, Gym Class Heroes, Lily Allen, Justice, Linkin Park and the Academy Is... are up for two awards each.

College students can vote for winners beginning today (Sept. 19) at mtvU, through Nov. 2. The winners will be awarded Nov. 8 at New York's Roseland Ballroom, with the event to be broadcast on mtvU and mtvU.com a week later.

The Arcade Fire, Lil' Wayne, Bright Eyes, Amy Winehouse, the Knife, Common, Klaxons, M.I.A., Spoon, CSS, the Rapture, TV On The Radio, Thom Yorke and Paramore are also up for awards this year.

New for 2007 is the best music on campus Woodie, which will be awarded to the artist that earns the most votes and steams on BestMusiconCampus.com for the next six weeks. Two finalists will be flown to New York to appear on the broadcast.
