As expected, Adele's "21" spends its 16th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Its reign is the longest since the "Titanic" soundtrack also earned 16 weeks at No. 1 in 1998.
The latest edition of the long-running " Kidz Bop" franchise -- "Kidz Bop 21" -- is looking to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week. Industry sources suggest the "Kidz Bop 21" effort could sell between 50,000 to 70,000 copies by week's end on Sunday, Jan. 22.
The "Kidz Bop 21" album features kid-friendly covers of hits like LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" and Rihanna's "We Found Love."
Coincidentally enough, "Kidz Bop 21" will find itself behind another "21" album -- that never-say-die set by Adele. The British singer's "21" should hold at No. 1 for a 17th week on the chart. If "21" nets a 17th week at No. 1, it will mark the longest run atop the tally since "The Bodyguard" soundtrack wrapped a 20-week run at No. 1 on the chart dated May 29, 1993.
Adele's "21" might sell just under 100,000 copies by week's end, so say industry prognosticators.
Back to "Kidz Bop" for a moment: The kids-singing-pop-hits series has claimed 13 previous top 10 albums, with three of them hitting No. 2. The line's last two regular releases, "Kidz Bop 19" and "Kidz Bop 20," both debuted and peaked at No. 2. (A No. 1 set still eludes the "Kidz.")
Other albums looking to make a high debut on the chart next week include Attack Attack!'s "This Means War" and James Fortune and FIYA's "Identity."
