The Feeling Gets To Work On New Album

British rock act the Feeling is beginning to lay down tracks for its as-yet-untitled sophomore set. Speaking after the Ivor Novello Awards in London yesterday (May 24), where the band members collected the coveted songwriters of the year trophy, frontman/guitarist Dan Gillespie Sells told Billboard.com plans were moving along nicely.

The Feeling's 2006 breakthrough deubt, "Twelve Stops and Home" is certified double platinum in Britain, where it has sold 750,000 copies, a representative for the band's label Universal Island says. Worldwide sales are closing in on the 1 million milestone.

In the short term, the group's energies will be focused on live performances. "We've got a few festivals over the summer which are going to kick us along, really," Sells says.

The band is booked for a host of U.K. outdoor dates, including the Isle of Wight Festival on June 8, Hyde Park Calling in London on June 23, and the July 1 Concert for Diana at the new Wembley Stadium.

Sells joked that he had a few career options to fall back upon should he ever veer away from music in later life. "I don't know, I might change my mind one day and become a farmer or something boring like that," he quipped. "Or I might become a pilot, like all the old rock'n'roll guys do."
