The Crystal Method Heading Back To 'Vegas'

To celebrate the 10th birthday of its debut Outpost album, "Vegas," electronica duo the Crystal Method will reissue the set Sept. 18 via Geffen. The new edition features a second disc of remixes, live tracks and rarities.

"Vegas" is by far the group's best-selling album, having shifted 984,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set went on to spawn the club hits "Comin' Back," "Keep Hope Alive" and "Busy Child."

"It was such a challenge, making a major-label record all by ourselves," group member Ken Jordan tells Billboard.com "I guess we had shown that we were capable with our first two singles, but when I look back at it now I'm just so thankful that our guys at Outpost really trusted us. We never thought it would have such wide appeal."

Jordan is particularly enthused about some of the new remixes, including Sta's new take on "Busy Child," which he says sports "hard electro-breaks with great use of the original samples." That cut will be available Aug. 28 via iTunes. Deadmau5's mix of "Cherry Twist" has "an amazing synth-bass riff that goes through all kinds of filtering throughout the song. It's very funky and makes everyone move," Jordan says.

The Crystal Method has select DJ gigs on its schedule into the fall, but the duo is also hunkering down on a new studio album at its new Hollywood facility. The as-yet-untitled set is due in early 2008, with a tour to follow.
