Take That's "Progress" (Polydor/Universal) started a second week at No. 1 on the new U.K. album chart, while the now-annual charity song by the finalists of this year's "X Factor," a cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment) debuted atop the singles chart.

"Progress" followed its century-best opening tally of 518,000 sales with another 208,000 last week. That was still more than Kings of Leon's 183,000 first week sales for "Come Around Sundown" (Hand Me Down/Sony Music Entertainment) last month, which was the year's biggest opening sale until Take That. "Come Around Sundown" was the one climber inside the top ten on the new chart, moving 12-8.

Take That prevented pop quartet JLS from a chart-topping debut with "Outta This World" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment). That arrived at No. 2, with Irish chart regulars Westlife's "Gravity," also via Sony on Syco Music, new at No. 3.

Also on Sony, classical crossover vocalist Russell Watson's "La Voce" (Epic) entered at No. 13 and My Chemical Romance's "Danger Days - The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys" (Reprise/Warner Music) at No. 14. Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" (Roc-a-Fella/Universal) opened at No. 16.

"Heroes," which sold 144,000 copies last week, is in aid of the Help The Heroes charity and follows the No. 1 success of the 2008 "X Factor" finalists' cover of Mariah Carey's "Hero" and the 2009 contestants' cover of Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone."

Another cover climbed to No. 2, as Ellie Goulding's version of Elton John's "Your Song" (Polydor/Universal) moved up from No. 3. JLS' "Love You More," which debuted at No. 1 last week, fell to No. 3. 2009 "X Factor" contestant Olly Murs opened at No. 4 with "Thinking Of Me" (Epic/Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment), while its predecessor, the No. 1 hit "Please Don't Let Me Go," climbed back 68-39.

Adele's 2008 single "Make You Feel My Love" (XL Recordings), newly publicized via performances by "X Factor" contestants in recent weeks, improved again 12-9, as Rihanna's "What's My Name?" (Def Jam/Universal), featuring Drake, climbed 18-10.

While the Beatles' "Hey Jude" (EMI) fell 40-47 and other tracks newly available on iTunes also moved down the chart, the Fab Four kept a top 40 presence with "Let It Be," which climbed 46-38. Meanwhile, the perennial reappearance of certain favorite festive tracks is up and running, even before the start of December. Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (Columbia) re-entered the top 75 at No. 48, with "Fairytale of New York" (Warner Bros./Warner Music) by the Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl climbing 75-51.

Rihanna is enjoying a double triumph on Billboard's pan-European sales charts, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's European Albums with "Loud" and spending a fourth week atop European Hot 100 Singles with "Only Girl (In The World)" (Def Jam/Universal).
