Susan Boyle's debut album "I Dreamed A Dream" (Syco/Sony Music Entertainment) needed just six weeks on sale to overtake Lady Gaga's "The Fame" (Interscope/Universal) and score the biggest U.K. album sale of 2009.

According to the Official Charts Company, "Dream" has sold more than 1.5 million copies since it was released Nov. 23 - enough to edge out Gaga, whose "The Fame" spent 34 weeks in the top 10 last year and made No. 2 overall for 2009. However, Gaga's "Poker Face" did top the aggregate 2009 singles chart, while "Just Dance" made No. 3 behind Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" (Interscope/Universal).

The U.K.'s first sales charts of 2010 also had Lady Gaga at the top, climbing back 3-1 to lead the singles survey for a second time with "Bad Romance" (Interscope/Universal), while heavy retail discounting of Paolo Nutini's sophomore set "Sunny Side Up" (Atlantic/Warner Music) sent it soaring back to the top of the album chart, 15-1.

"Bad Romance" was the U.K.'s best-selling single for a week before Rage Against the Machine's battle with Joe McElderry for the Christmas No. 1 spot. The Official Charts Company's new data had it moving back ahead of McElderry's "The Climb" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment), which fell to No. 2 after a week at the summit. RATM's "Killing In The Name" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment), which topped the festive chart before dipping to No. 2 last week, crashed to No. 40.

Several of the most popular singles of recent weeks had renewed sales, with Black Eyed Peas' former No. 1 "Meet Me Halfway" (Interscope/Universal) back up 6-3 and Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" (RCA/Sony Music Entertainment) climbing to a new peak, 10-4.

U.K. rapper Chipmunk's "Look For Me" (Jive/Sony Music Entertainment), featuring Talay Riley, jumped 13-10 while two more former chart-toppers, Cheryl Cole's "Fight For This Love" (Fascination/Polydor/Universal) and "Bad Boys" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment) by Alexandra Burke featuring Flo Rida, both rebounded, 14-11 and 25-12. Cole's follow-up single "3 Words" dipped 4-5.

Nutini's "Sunny Side Up" debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. last June and spent 13 of its first 14 weeks in the top ten. Now double platinum for 600,000 shipments, it's being heavily discounted in retail and online new year sales, as is its predecessor "These Streets," which re-entered the chart at No. 26.

Lady Gaga's "The Fame" moved up 4-2 and Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" dropped 2-3 as last week's No. 1, Michael Bublé's "Crazy Love" (Reprise/Warner Music), fell to No. 4. Florence and the Machine's "Lungs" (Universal Island), also newly discounted, jumped 26-6 in its 26th chart week.
