Superstars Take Time For A Cause

Garth Brooks, Bryan White, Faith Hill, and Olivia Newton-John are among the country artists who have teamed for a benefit single for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. To street tomorrow on Atlantic Records Nashville, "One Heart At A Time" was penned and executive-produced by singer/songwriter Victoria Shaw, who organized the project after being approached by a friend from the Foundation. "It's the most important song I've ever written," claims Grammy winner Shaw, whose writing credits include two No. 1 tracks with Brooks, "The River" and "She's Every Woman."

As to how she gathered the superstar talent for the single, which also features vocals by Doobie Brother Michael McDonald, Neal McCoy, and Billy Dean, Shaw tells Billboard Online, "Being an artist myself, I was able to cut to the chase. I just called up my friends and asked them to participate. They all committed immediately, even before their record companies knew what they were doing."

All profits from "One Heart At A Time" are earmarked for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the U.S.'s only research organization dedicated to fighting this genetic disease, which is the No. 1 killer of children and young adults.
