Supergrass' 'Diamond' Resurfacing Next Month

After a two-month delay, British rock act Supergrass's sixth studio album, "Diamond Hoo Ha," will arrive June 10 in North America.

The 11-song set was bumped from its original April date due to ongoing restructuring efforts within EMI. It'll be the group's first release for Astralwerks, with the iTunes version containing two live bonus cuts.

"Hoo Ha" was recorded mainly in Berlin, in what drummer Danny Goffey says was a three-week spurt. "It was great to record in a brief spell," he tells Billboard.com, noting the marked contrast to the protracted sessions for 2005's "Road to Rouen."

While that album surprised fans for its darker sound compared to Supergrass' earlier output, Goffey sees "Diamond Hoo Ha" as more of a return to form. "It's pretty manageable to play live, and that was the goal -- to put a bit more energy into the band," he says.

This summer, Supergrass will get a chance to show off that energy during a support slot with Foo Fighters in North America, beginning July 9 in Seattle. "I think it would be good if we could do a set that is slightly psychedelic rock'n'roll," Goffey says. "We're trying to do some weirder stuff, because you can get away with that when you're supporting."
