'Summer' School

Chris Carrabba is a slave to his feelings, a quality that fans of his band, Dashboard Confessional, have come to adore. After almost two years of writing and recording, the band will release its much-anticipated fourth studio album, "Dusk and Summer," this week via Vagrant.

Carrabba started working on "Dusk and Summer," the follow-up to 2003's "A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar," in his Florida apartment, making a combination of demos and finished tracks. In the spring of March 2005 the band went to Jamaica for two months with producer Daniel Lanois.

When Lanois took the members of his band on tour to promote his own "Belladonna" album, Carrabba finished the set with Don Gilmore. The process wasn't laborious, but it was long," says Carrabba, who estimates he wrote between 30-50 songs for the album and recorded 20, half of which made the final cut. "It was, 'I'm gonna keep at this until I find what I know is there.' And since I love doing it, although there were frustrating days, it was never a laborious process. It was just, like, honestly the best year ever."
