Bud Gaugh, the drummer of Sublime who served as the percussionist of the newly reconstituted Sublime With Rome, is leaving the band to spend more time with his family.

Gaugh announced the departure prior to their performance at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles on Saturday (Dec. 10). "The story is that I'm gonna be a dad here again real soon, and I just wanna be there for my family," says the 44-year-old drummer.

Gaugh and bassist Eric WIlson formed Sublime With Rome as a trio with new singer Rome Ramirez in 2009 after Sublime's original frontman, Bradley Nowell, died of a heroin overdose in 1996. Along with Sublime and Sublime With Rome, Gaugh has performed with groups like the Long Beach Dub Allstars and Del Mar.

Sublime With Rome has announced that Josh Freese will take over drumming duties for the group. Freese has previously performed with the Vandals and A Perfect Circle, and served as Paramore's touring drummer in South America earlier this year following the departure of Zac Farro.
