Strokes, Darkness To Rock For Climate Change

The Strokes, the Darkness and the Super Furry Animals are the first bands set to perform at the One Earth benefit, to be held Jan. 28 at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The event is aimed at raising global awareness of climate change and will be broadcast around the world, with details to be announced.

Organizers Climate Change Now are hoping to convert 1 million European homes to renewable energy sources in conjunction with the show, which is expected to feature 10 acts playing short sets.

"People are genuinely concerned about the effects of climate change, but don't know how easy it is to make a huge difference," says Climate Change Now co-founder Michael Mathres. "2006 will be the year people tackle climate change individually and the concert will focus attention on the part we can all play in doing so."
