Story Of The Year Inks With Epitaph

Epitaph Records has inked St. Louis rock band Story Of The Year, which was formerly signed to Maverick/Warner Bros.

The group is in the studio with producer John Feldmann and will also log time with producer Elvis Baskette. Its as-yet-untitled Epitaph debut is expected next spring.

Story Of The Year scored big with its major-label debut, "Page Avenue," which has sold 846,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. But the 2005 follow-up was a commercial disappointment, shifting just 180,000 units.

"From my first time seeing Story Of The Year light up the stage of the tiny Troubadour club like a torch, to soon thereafter seeing them light up every TV screen across America, I always regretted that I hadn't come across them just a little sooner and perhaps have had the chance to sign them," says Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz.
