Stone's Throw Quashes MF Doom Rumors

Amid a spate of rumors that masked underground rapper MF Doom was sending impostors to perform live in his place and/or that he was seriously ill, his label, Stone's Throw, has cleared the air on its Web site.

"Is he lip synching? (No. Listen to the videos on YouTube)," the post says. "Is he an impostor? (No, but he did lose some pounds) Is he in the hospital? (No, he's in his studio ... or if not there, you can find him in the pub with the grub stain)."

The site adds that MF Doom, whose real name is Daniel Dumile, recently recorded collaborations with Guilty Simpson in Los Angeles, one of which, "Mash's Revenge," will arrive Oct. 2 on the album "B-Ball Zombie War."

Doom's odd concert behavior attracted a torrent of online chatter in August, after he appeared at brief, shambling gigs in Los Angeles in San Francisco looking significantly lighter than usual, and was barely audible on the microphone. A number of recent shows have also been canceled on short notice.
