Aerosmith fans patiently awaiting new music while frontman Steven Tyler plays judge on "American Idol" have reason to "rejoice," says the singer. In a Twitter post from last night (Mar. 7), Tyler writes that he and guitarist Joe Perry put their heads together yesterday and are ready to crank out the follow-up to 2004's "Honkin' on Bobo" this summer.

"Aerofreaksrejoice… Joe and I sent smoke signals… shot the shit and chewed the fat for the last year," Tyler posted. "But just smoked the peace pipe for an hour and are on our way to rock'in your fkin worlds this summer by locking ourselves away somewhere [with] guitars and drums… Luv ST."

Steven Tyler Q&A: The Wild Man of 'Idol'

One day before Tyler made his "American Idol" debut on Jan. 19, the singer said in an "Idol" conference call that the band members had already been sketching out idea for their next album. "We've certainly been writing. I know Joe's got some licks, and I got a bunch of songs that I've written for solo and/or Aerosmith," he said.

Tyler also said that Aerosmith was "already booked for a tour for November-December, that should be South America and Japan." In the meantime, Tyler's place at the "American Idol" judges table alongside Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez in the Fox show's 10th season has certainly helped bring Aerosmith back into the public consciousness. Sales of the band's greatest hits collections shot up more than 250% in the month after "Idol's" season 10 premiere, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
