Peer Music president/CEO Ralph Peer II will get the Abe Olman Publishing Award, and late composer Leo Friedman's "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" is to be named winner of the Towering Song Award.
The 2000 class of SOHF inductees was made up of James Brown, Neil Diamond, James Taylor, Don Henley and Glenn Frey, Curtis Mayfield, Brian Wilson, and Johnny Mathis. The ceremony featured an all star rock'n'roll jam that included Brown, Paul McCartney, Aaron Neville, Taylor, Carole King, Ben E. King, Diamond, Bobby Womack, Brian McKnight, Phoebe Snow, Jill Sobule, Hanson, and Keely Smith.
Established in 1969 by Mercer, the SHOF will have a permanent home in New York upon the expected fall completion of a new building at New York University, Hall chairman Hal David announced last June.
