Smile Empty Soul Preps Sophomore Album

Rock act Smile Empty Soul will release its second album, "Anxiety," Sept. 27 via Lava. First single "Don't Need You" can be sampled on the band's official Web site. Other songs on the 15-track disc include the anti- Iraq War-themed "God's Army," "Holes" and "California's Lonely."

The group is plotting a fall tour in support of "Anxiety," but for now, the only confirmed dates are Aug. 13 at the Firelake Festival in Gaffney, S.C., and Aug. 18 in Portland, Ore., with Cold and Unwritten Law.

The upcoming shows will feature new drummer Dominic Weir, who replaced Derek Fledhill earlier this year. Smile Empty Soul is rounded out by frontman Sean Danielsen and bassist Ryan Martin.

"Anxiety" is the follow-up to the group's self-titled 2003 debut, which has sold 465,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single "Bottom of a Bottle" reached the top 10 of both Billboard's Modern and Mainstream Rock charts.
