Slick Gets Vocal Lift From Famous Pals

Longtime David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick will release a new solo album, "Zig Zag," Dec. 9 on Sanctuary Records. The disc will feature four instrumentals and collaborations with Bowie, the Cure's Robert Smith, Spacehog's Royston Langdon, Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and Martha Davis.

Slick is currently touring as part of Bowie's band on the A Reality Tour, which hits the U.S. Dec. 6 for two months of shows. Bowie contributes vocals to the "Zig Zag" track "Isn't It Evening (The Revolutionary)."

The album's first single will be "Believe" featuring Smith, which is due to hit U.S. radio outlets in January. Elliott lends his pipes to "Psycho Twang," while Davis shows up on "St. Mark's Place" and Langdon melodicizes on the title track.

"Each vocalist wrote his or her own melodies and lyrics," explains Slick. "Some of them got really rough demos from me and still managed to come up with amazing ideas. They really helped make this a unique record."
