Rock supergroup Audioslave will release the third album of its four-year existence this week. "Revelations" is due via Epic as part of the band's unusual arrangement under which its music is released on a rotating basis by that label as well as Interscope.
First single "Original Fire" has been a quick top 10 hit on both the Billboard Modern and Mainstream Rock charts. The 12-track album was produced by Brendan O'Brien and is the follow-up to 2005's "Out of Exile," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.1 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
In an odd move, the band will not tour in support of "Revelations" until next year. In the meantime, frontman Chris Cornell is finishing up work on his second solo album. He has also co-penned the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film "Casino Royale," which opens in November.
