Sinead O'Connor Says She's Putting Love, Marriage Behind Her

Sinead O'Connor's very public relationship with husband Barry Herridge has taken a new -- and seemingly final -- turn.

"The behaviour of one particular paper resulted in very serious damage to my husband and myself personally and consequently made the marriage untenable so that it is now over and I hope the media will kindly leave the poor man alone to get on with his life," she wrote on her website.

O'Connor has chronicled the ups and downs of the romance and her personal state online in recent weeks, beginning with the Dec. 8 wedding, the initial separation, a decision to stay together as boyfriend and girlfriend and most recently, becoming "un-well… and in danger" and seeking psychiatric help on Twitter.

According to her latest post, she is "temporarily back on meds" and was able to find care.

She criticized the media for its scrutiny, hoping they "will kindly leave [Herridge] alone to get on with his life" -- and pledged not to put another person through a similar ordeal.

"I will never again associate myself romantically with anyone as I could not bear to see these things done again to someone I love," she said. "Of course I have my children, family and friends so I am happy enough and will be old self in matter of days. for which I make no apology… Onward and upward."
