Sermon Album Set For Spring

EPMD alum Erick Sermon is expected to release his fifth solo album in the spring. The artist's as-yet-untitled set will be his first under a new deal with Universal/Motown.

Sermon's last two solo sets, 2002's "React" and 2001's "[Music]," were issued through J Records. 1995's "Double or Nothing" and 1993's "No Pressure" were released by Def Jam. "React" debuted at No. 13 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 72 on The Billboard 200.

Aside from his solo work, Sermon is also part of Def Squad with Keith Murray and Redman. The group has released two albums, 1998's "El Nino" (Jive/Def Jam), which debuted at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and 2000's "Def Squad Presents Erick Onasis" (Def Squad/DreamWorks), which bowed at No. 15.
