Earlier this month, Sam Adams was under the spotlight after accusations that he gamed the iTunes system to top their digital hip-hop charts surfaced on the web. But the Boston rapper, who recently sat down with Billboard.com to discuss the allegations, says he's thankful for the attention the naysayers are paying him.
"We're in a genre of music that everyone likes talking about how they're a hustler and how they're successful and how they'll do anything to get to success," the 22-year-old says. "If I did buy my album, which I didn't, who cares? Look at me now. I'm meeting with everyone ... I've always dreamed of meeting. What, you're mad 'cause a white kid did it? And we did it on our own? To all the haters, to all the bloggers -- thank you."
Adams is prepping his as-yet-untitled album, which he describes as "more dance, progressive hip-hop." In the coming weeks, Adams will also be releasing the accompanying video to his latest single, "Driving Me Crazy," which he shot in L.A. and performed at the Billboard studios recently.
