'Salvation' And Sorrow On New Olson Album

Jayhawks co-founder Mark Olson puts his blues on display on his next album, "The Salvation Blues," due June 15 via Hacktone. Written in the wake of his divorce from his wife, the loss of his home and his travels abroad, the effort also features a reunion with former Jayhawk principal Gary Louris.

"The Salvation Blues," produced by Ben Vaughn, chronicles Olson's personal struggles with the separation from his wife, songwriter and bandmate Victoria Williams. After settling and losing the house he built in California, Olson embarked on a trip across Europe, writing and recording demos along the way.

Familiarity also plays a role on the set, as Louris sings with Olson on three tracks and co-wrote "Poor Michael's Boat." As previously reported, the pair also toured together for a short stint last year. This will mark the first time since 2001 they've recorded together.
