Rush Guitarist's Trial Pushed Back

Comments

Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson's trial date in Florida has been pushed back. Lifeson, whose real name is Alex Zivojinovich, and his son Justin are due to appear in court the week of Sept. 13 in Collier Country Circuit Court, according to the Naples Daily News.

The trial was originally set to begin Monday (June 14) but defense attorneys stated they needed more time to prepare its case.

Father and son were arrested on New Year's Eve following an incident at the Ritz Carlton hotel in North Naples. Lifeson faces one charge of resisting arrest and two battery charges, third degree felonies punishable by up to five years in prison. Justin Zivojinovich is charged with resisting arrest. Both have pled not guilty,

While the new date leaves the band's North American leg of the band's 30th anniversary tour unaffected by the legal proceedings, it does conflict with scheduled European dates. That leg is due to kick off Sept. 8 in London, with shows in Glasgow, Scotland, Birmingham, England and Oberhaussen, Germany slated for the week of the new trial.

The group, which plays tomorrow (June 12) in Maryland Heights, Mo., will release "Feedback" on June 29 via Atlantic. As previously reported, the entire album is made up of of songs by Eddie Cochran, the Yardbirds, the Who, Buffalo Springfield and others.
