Roots, Marley, Nevilles Set For Green Apple Fest

The Roots, Los Lonely Boys, the Neville Brothers, Ziggy Marley and Taj Mahal are just a few of the names that will grace this year's eight-city Green Apple Festival. The free concert event, which last year was held only in New York, Chicago and San Francisco, will be hosted at several outdoor parks and destinations on the same date, April 20.

Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder and Big Head Todd and the Monsters headline the New York event in Central Park, while the Roots and some special guests, Gov't Mule and Toots and the Maytals will take over Washington D.C.'s National Mall.

Derek Trucks Band and Dirty Dozen Brass Band will be featured in Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo, Menudo and Arrested Development will showcased in Miami's Bicentennial Park, and Los Lonely Boys and Martin Sexton are set to play Fair Park in Dallas.

City Park in Denver plays host to the Neville Brothers. Mickey Hart's Mass Drums and Yonder Mountain String Band will hit Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and Taj Mahal and a solo acoustic set from Ziggy Marley are confirmed for Los Angeles' Santa Monica Pier line-up.

As previously reported, each festival site will invite nonprofit environmentally friendly organizations to promote new technology and products. In the days leading up to the event, from April 18-19, about 150 clubs across the country will become "Green Apple Venues."

Organizers plan to introduce environmentally friendly practices and products to participating facilities. In addition, performing acts will be encouraged to speak about Earth Day from the stage.
