Linda Ronstadt returns to the rock/pop mode on "We Ran," her first album since 1996's lullaby collection, "Dedicated To The One I Love." Billboard Bulletin reports that on the new set, due June 23 from Elektra, she is backed by members of the Heartbreakers, former Eagle Bernie Leadon, and her longtime guitarist Waddy Wachtel. The tracks were written by a variety of artists, including Bruce Springsteen ("If I Should Fall Behind"), Bob Dylan ("Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues"), and Doc Pomus ("Cry 'Til My Tears Run Dry"). Also included is "Ruler Of My Heart," recorded during the sessions for 1993's "Winter Light" album and featuring the late pianist Don Grolnick. The first single is the John Hiatt-penned "When We Ran." The majority of the production is by Glyn Johns (Led Zeppelin, the Who, the Rolling Stones).
Ronstadt hopes to play a brief slate of U.S. dates in the fall, according to manager Ira Koslow. On June 20, she and Aaron Neville will team for a concert at the New Orleans Museum of Art to benefit New Orleans Artists Against Hunger and Homelessness.
