Sure to delight fans of Quicksand's groove-rooted hardcore, Rival Schools is rounded out by guitarist Ian Love and the former rhythm section of CIV -- bassist Cache Tolman and drummer Sammy Siegler. The group wraps a three-show stint supporting Washington, D.C.-based rock act Burning Airlines, which included a sold-out gig at New York's Brownies on Wednesday, on Sunday (April 8) in the nation's capital.
In the meantime, Schreifels is keeping plenty busy with his second band, Pearl Harbor, in which he plays drums. The group, which also includes singer Masa Nakamura, guitarist Ryan Stratton, and bassist Rebecca Schiffman, plans to record its debut album for Some in the near future. Schreifels also produced and played on Schiffman's debut album, set for release later this year on New York independent label Downright.
Quicksand's final album, "Manic Compression," debuted at No. 9 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart in 1995..
