Reissues, Tour Are No Cheap Trick

Power-pop progenitor Cheap Trick will celebrate its 20th anniversary by reissuing its catalog and going on tour. Epic/Legacy will re-release "Cheap Trick At Budokan" on April 28; the set will feature nine additional tracks that didn't surface until the mid-'90s, when they were released on a disc simply titled "Budokan." The digitally remastered two-CD or -cassette set, now dubbed "Cheap Trick At Budokan -- The Complete Concert," has a suggested list price of $19.98 for CD and $10.98 for cassette. The CD set is enhanced, including footage from the landmark performance.

Cheap Trick's tour starts April 18 with the band playing all the songs from "Cheap Trick At Budokan -- The Complete Concert" in a free show at New York's Central Park. The group will replicate the concert throughout the summer. As a special treat for its hometown fans, the band will play four nights at Chicago's Metro nightclub, re-creating "Cheap Trick At Budokan -- The Complete Concert" in its entirety April 30; its 1977 Epic self-titled debut, May 1; 1977's "In Color," May 2; and 1978's "Heaven Tonight," May 3. This fall, the band is expected to follow that model of re-creating its first three albums in three separate concerts in at least a dozen cities.
