R&B/hip-hop heavyweights R. Kelly and P. Diddy, and veteran acts the O'Jays and the Temptations are among the acts on the bill for the third annual Detroit Music Festival. Slated for Aug. 1-2 at the city's Comerica Park, the event will also feature Ron Isley and the Isley Brothers, Frankie Beverly and Maze, India.Arie, the Four Tops, the Whispers, and Gap Band. More artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
"It is an honor that our great city has been selected as the venue for this annual event that showcases African American artists and music," Detroit mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick said in a statement.
Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday (May 2), through Ticketmaster. VIP seats will cost $103.50, with other tickets fetching $88.50, $78.50, and $43.50. A limited number of free tickets will be offered to active military personnel.
