First single "Happy People" has already dented eight Billboard charts, climbing to No. 8 this week on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and dropping 20-21 on the Hot 100. A video for the cut can be streamed from Kelly's official Web site.
"Happy People/U Saved Me" is the follow-up to 2003's "Chocolate Factory," which reached No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It has sold 2.6 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That set won best male R&B/soul album at the recent Soul Train awards. Kelly is also up for best male R&B artist at the BET Awards, to be handed out June 29 in Los Angeles.
Kelly remains embroiled in legal troubles relating to a 14-count child pornography charge pending in Chicago. Six other child pornography charges in a related Florida case were dropped in March.
