Queens Of The Stone Age principals Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri have teamed with Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk to record the bulk of the music for the soundtrack to "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys," due June 11 from Milan. The film, starring Jodie Foster, arrives three days later in U.S. theaters.

It marks the film debut for director Peter Care, best known for his work on music videos by R.E.M. and Depeche Mode. "Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane designed animated sequences for the film and the cover art for the soundtrack.

According to a spokesperson, the Homme/Oliveri/Wilk material is not as heavy as the type of loud rock usually purveyed by Queens Of The Stone Age, whose long-awaited third album, "Songs for the Deaf," is due in August from Interscope. Milan plans to release "All the Same," the lone soundtrack cut featuring Homme on vocals, to U.S. radio stations for airplay consideration in the coming weeks.

"The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" also includes "Do for the Others" from Stephen Stills' 1970 solo debut and boogie rock mainstays Canned Heat's "On the Road Again." Marco Beltrami, who penned the orchestral scores for "Scream" and "Blade II," contributes similar material here.

Although Milan is best known for releasing soundtracks to such films as "Ghost" and "Mulholland Dr.," the label is gearing up for the August release of actor Andy Dick's debut album with his band Bitches Of The Century. A spokesperson describes the sound of the set as "Violent Femmes meets Devo."
