Queen rocks Billboard's Social 50 chart, debuting at No. 15 on the tally, following buzz generated by what would have been Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday on Sept. 5.

On the band's official YouTube channel, 17 videos ran to commemorate Mercury, with stars like Katy Perry (7-11), Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, and Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance talking about how his music and views inspired them. Then on Sept. 6, Google ran a homepage doodle -- that, when clicked on -- played a 98-second animated video set to the band's "Don't Stop My Now."

Due to this surge of activity, Queen gained a total of 96,000 fans across all monitored social networks and their YouTube profile views exploded from 32,000 to 324,000 views week-to-week. The official birthday video featured there, which was uploaded on Sept. 3, has since earned over 612,000 views, 2,500 comments, and 10,000 Likes.

Billboard's Social 50 chart ranks the most active artists on the world's leading social networking sites -- YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and iLike -- using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.

Taylor Swift, who makes a tremendous 32-12 ascent, uploaded a video on Aug. 25, asking fans to submit questions for her appearance on the first episode of YouTube Presents, an artist interview series produced by parent company Google.

In the coming days, fans submitted over 30,000 questions. Then on Sept 1, the YouTube segment aired and has since pulled in over 1.3 million views.

The next day, Swift also announced that a tab for her new fragrance, Wonderstruck, would go live on her Facebook page. If fans "Liked" the page, they gained more info about the product and why Swift felt inspired to create a scent.

This web activity helped catalyze extra fan excitement, earning her 129,000 new Facebook fans and bolstering her YouTube profile views by 117,000 week-to-week.

On Sept. 5, Tiffany Alvord (28-24) uploaded a fun cover of "Wannabe" by Spice Girls-featuring fellow YouTube stars Megan & Liz-to her YouTube channel.

Soon after, YouTube featured the video on their homepage, helping it rake in 1.4 million views. Seeing its success, Megan & Liz then uploaded it to their channel on Sept. 7. It accumulated 233,000 views and pushed their profile views up to 214,000 week-to-week, which helped to propel them into the tally for the first time at No. 38.

With the debut of Avril Lavigne's video for the single "Wish You Were Here," she makes a subtle 26-20 skip up the tally. Since appearing on Sept. 8, the video has brought in 10.7 million views, bumping her profile views to 58,000 week-to-week. This buzz helped her add 40,000 Twitter followers and 144,000 Facebook fans.

Back in the top ten, Justin Bieber (No. 1) and Rihanna (No. 2) hold their respective places. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga (4-3), Shakira (9-4), Adelle (5-7) Michael Jackson (8-6), Katy Perry (11-7) Eminem (10-8) and Pitbull (20-9) climb, while David Guetta tumbles 6-10.
