"The Sweet Escape" (Interscope) by Gwen Stefani featuring Akon moved back 4-3 while "Destination Calabria" (Data) by Alex Gaudino featuring Crystal Waters improved 5-4.
The Fray's "How To Save a Life" (Epic), now in its ninth week in the U.K. top 10, edged back 6-5 while Fergie's former Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 "Glamorous" (A&M) climbed 10-6. Also turning around after falling last week were the Kaiser Chiefs' "Ruby" (B Unique/Polydor), 8-7, Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around Comes Around" (Jive), 12-9, Mika's "Grace Kelly" (Casablanca/Island), 11-10, and Calvin Harris' "Acceptable in the 80s" (Columbia), 16-12.
The big climber on the new singles chart was Seamus Haji's remake of Indeep's 1983 hit "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" (Apollo), featuring Kay Jay, which rose 38-13. Kings Of Leon enjoyed a No. 18 entry with "On Call" (Hand Me Down/Sony BMG) and former Spice Girl Melanie C arrived at No. 24 with the latest chart cover of "I Want Candy" (Red Girl).
Take That's album chart crown was challenged by Elton John's new compilation "Rocket Man -- The Definitive Hits" (Mercury), which debuted at No. 2 on sales of 31,000. The collection, which comes only four years after his "Greatest Hits 1970-2002" set reached No. 3 in the U.K., was released to mark John's 60th birthday on March 25.
Elektra/Rhino's new "Very Best of the Doors" compilation entered at No. 15, some six-and-a-half years after "The Best of the Doors" reached No. 9. Veteran British rock act Machine Head opened at No. 16 with "The Blackening" (R).
On Billboard's pan-European sales compilation charts, Nelly Furtado's "Loose" (Mosley/Geffen) is No. 1 for a fifth non-consecutive week, while Timberlake's single is the new No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 10 Singles, up from No. 6.
