Acoustic harmony trio the Thorns -- a group made up of singer/songwriters Matthew Sweet, Shawn Mullins, and Pete Droge -- is set to release its debut self-titled album May 20 on Aware/Columbia Records.
The band will tour in support of the album, and has already set four appearances -- a May 20 slot on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," a two-night stand at Hollywood's Troubadour nightclub May 20-21, and a May 23 performance on "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn."
The album, produced by Brendan O'Brien, features such tracks as "Think It Over," "Thorns,"
"Dragonfly," "Such a Shame," "No Blue Sky," "Long Sweet Summer Night," "I Told You," and first single "I Can't Remember."
The group's early exposure has come via television. In an episode of NBC's "American Dreams" which aired Sunday night (May 4), the Thorns played a trio of street singers performing the Beach Boys' "Warmth of the Sun." Thorns originals have also been used in that show and an episode of the WB's "Smallville."
