"Wolfgang" was recorded in the Paris home studio of Cassius' Philippe Zdar, who co-produced the album. The group's first album since "It's Never Been Like This" in 2006, "Wolfgang" is anchored by the two-part ambient epic "Love Like A Sunset." The album also features the band's signature pop songs like "1901," "Rome," "Fences" and "Listzomania" run through heavy layers of French house music filters.
Phoenix has built a loyal live following in the U.S. despite the modest sales of their previous albums, all released in the U.S. on Astralwerks. "Alphabetical," released in 2004, has sold 30,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan. "It's Never Been Like This," the group's most recent album, has sold 36,000.
Phoenix are planning to announce a brief U.S. tour this summer soon. "1901," the first single from "Wolfgang," is currently available for free at wearephoenix.com.
