Pat Green Rides 'Wave' Of New Album

Country artist Pat Green has slated July 15 as the release date for his second Republic/Universal album, "Wave On Wave." Produced by Don Gehman (John Mellencamp, R.E.M.), the 13-track set once again features a guest appearance by Willie Nelson.

The first single will be the album's title track, which will be shipped in June to U.S. radio outlets for airplay consideration. Portions of Green's May 31 performance at the Backyard in Austin, Texas, will be filmed for use in the supporting video for the song.

Nelson appears on the track "Elvis." The country legend previously helped out his fellow Texas native on the song "Threadbare Gypsy Soul," from Green's 2001 album, "Three Days." That set debuted at No. 7 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and No. 86 on The Billboard 200. Along with selling 213,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, the album also spawned the single "Carry On," which peaked at No. 35 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.

"I love making an impact with people," Green said in a statement. "My band I worked on this album together in the studio with the simple thought in mind that we wanted to make music people would remember. Like those classic albums by Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, or the Eagles that you'd never see for sale in a used record store, because everyone holds on to them. That's the kind of music we want to make, and I feel we've done that this time around."

Green has a handful of live dates, mostly in Texas, scheduled throughout next few months, stopping next on Friday (May 9) in Nacogdoches, Texas. As previously reported, he's also on the bill for Nelson's annual Fourth of July Picnic in Spicewood, Texas.
