The concert follows Oldfield's recent 36-date "Then And Now" European tour, in which he played to a total audience of over 350,000.
Oldfield's new album -- his second of the year, following last May's "Guitars" -- is designed as a musical celebration of the last 2000 years. It features Oldfield as writer, arranger, and producer, with orchestration recorded live in one day at Abbey Road Studios.
Oldfield's label estimated that he has sold 40 million albums worldwide.
