'Offroad Fury3' Offers Slate Of Sony Sounds

Good Charlotte, Lostprophets, Coheed and Cambria and other Sony BMG Music affiliated artists will be found on the in-game soundtrack to "ATV Offroad Fury3." Exclusive to Sony's PlayStation 2 game platform, the highly anticipated videogame ships Nov. 2 and marks a creative partnership between Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) and Sony Music.

The array of tracks from well-known and up-and-coming rock, funk, hip-hop and techno acts was selected to amplify the extreme gameplay and intense offroad racing excitement. Other artists heard in the game include Chevelle, Eighteen Visions, Crossfade, Future Leaders Of The World, the Mooney Suzuki, Midtown, Killradio and Acceptance.

"Featured artists get even more exposure via the in-game jukebox," says Donna Armentor, SCEA senior manager, promotions. "Players will have the opportunity to select any track to accompany the races and/or create custom playlists throughout gameplay."

A unique aspect of the synergistic campaign will be an innovative online scavenger hunt at www.atv3offroadrally.com that goes live on day of the game's release. Clues and information on the bands' Web sites will lead consumers to win prizes that include an ATV, albums by Sony artists and copies of the new game.

Band information and unlockable bonus items will be included in the software, while the "ATV Offroad Fury3" packaging will include items such as music videos and a limited edition insert.

"This project provides us with an important opportunity to build additional connections between [our] established artists and games players," says Michele Anthony, Sony Music Label Group COO and Sony BMG Music Entertainment EVP, "as well as to create audiences for [our] new and emerging artists."

The third installment in the multimillion-unit selling PS2 racing franchise developed by the Climax Group, "ATV Offroad Fury3" allows players to choose from more than two dozen highly detailed vehicles with unprecedented customization options.

With visually realistic backgrounds featuring water and mud effects and fully interactive objects such as ramps, tires, cones and trees, the game offers 38 extensive, free-roaming environments with six distinct terrain types, each with it's own handling characteristics, including snow, dirt, mud, ice, water and grass.
