'O Brother' To Hit The Highway

Many of the artists who contributed bluegrass and traditional Appalachian music to the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack will bring their music to the people early next year. Emmylou Harris, Ralph Stanley, Allison Krauss and Union Station, and Norman Blake, all of whom appeared on the soundtrack, will be joined by Patty Loveless, whose latest album, "Mountain Soul" (Epic), is in the same vein. The tour will hit approximately 20 U.S. cities in January and February.

Officially dubbed the Cohen Brothers and T Bone Burnett present Down from the Mountain; Music from the Film "O Brother Where Art Thou?," the trek is a joint production of Immortal Entertainment, UTA talent agency, House of Blues, and the Metropolitan Entertainment Group.

News of the tour comes in the wake of enduring sales of the film's Mercury soundtrack, which has moved 1.745 million copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan, and has the topped Billboard's Top Country Albums chart for 15 non-consecutive weeks. The live companion album "Down from the Mountain," recorded in Nashville last year and recently released on the Mercury-affiliated Lost Highway's set, debuted at No. 10 on the country tally this week, and has sold 28,000 copies to date.
