NYC Jazz Benefit Planned

Comments

Jazz Alliance International (JAI), the jazz industry's non-profit trade group, will host "Made in America" Dec. 5 at New York's Town Hall as a benefit for victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Due to appear are Joshua Redman, k.d. lang, Kenny Barron, Ruben Blades, Regina Carter, Bela Fleck, Cassandra Wilson, Ron Carter, Paquita D'Rivera, Wayne Shorter, Dianne Reeves, Danilo Perez, and Terrence Blanchard.

Tickets to the event range from $65 to $150, and are on sale now via Ticketmaster. Proceeds will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund.

As previously reported, more than $30 million has been raised for the fund by last month's star-studded Concert for New York City. Further monies will be generated by the sale of a two-disc album of the event due out tomorrow (Nov. 27).

Comprised of artists, record companies, managers, agents, publicists, broadcasters, educators, and others, the newly formed JAI is designed to raise jazz awareness in America.
