Noel Gallagher Jams With Paul Weller In London

by Mark Sutherland, London  |   April 22, 2010 9:20 EDT

Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher joined Paul Weller on-stage at the Modfather's intimate London show.

Gallagher -- who split with Oasis last year - guested last night (April 21) on guitar and vocals on versions of Oasis' 2005 song "Mucky Fingers" and Weller's own "Echoes Round the Sun," which featured Gallagher and Oasis guitarist Gem Archer when it was released in 2008. Archer also joined Weller for the night's last song, a version of the Jam's "Start." Weller also played the Jam's "Strange Town" alongside tracks from throughout his solo career.

Weller played the 600-capacity Relentless Garage in Highbury, north London, for U.K. cable TV/Internet service provider Virgin Media. Weller is staging a "takeover" of Virgin's Music on Demand TV service during April, featuring exclusive interview footage. Last night's gig will air on Music on Demand in June.

Weller's new album, "Wake Up the Nation" (Island) was released on Monday (April 19), and was No. 1 on the Official Charts Co.'s midweek albums chart update.
