No Stopping Blunt On U.K. Charts

James Blunt's U.K. chart reign shows no sign of being brought to an end, as he starts a fifth week at the top of the singles survey with "You're Beautiful" (Atlantic) and a sixth at No. 1 with the album "Back to Bedlam." British R&B staple Craig David had the highest new entry on the singles chart, while Canadian Daniel Powter recorded the top debut on the album list.

David's "All yhe Way" (Warner Bros.), the opening single from his third album "The Story Goes..." (which follows on Aug. 22), arrived at No. 3. Goldfrapp's "Ooh La La" (Mute) opened at No. 4, easily the biggest hit to date by the electro-pop indie act, whose previous best showing on the British chart was the No. 20 entry "Strict Machine" in May 2004.

Akon's "Belly Dancer (Bananza)" (Universal), the follow-up to his major hit "Lonely," entered at No. 5, while acclaimed English modern rockers the Magic Numbers enjoyed a No. 12 debut for "Love Me Like You" (Heavenly). The group's self-titled debut album also climbed back 12-8.

Blunt's quadruple-platinum album (1.2 million U.K. shipments) remained ahead of Coldplay's "X&Y" (Parlophone) at No. 2 and Kaiser Chiefs' "Employment" (B Unique/Polydor), which rose 4-3 in its 23rd chart week. Powter's self-titled album came in at No. 5 on the survey, which also saw a 28-11 surge for vocalist Madeleine Peyroux's "Careless Love" (Rounder).

The Coldplay set leads the European Top 100 Albums chart for the ninth consecutive week, while Crazy Frog's "Axel F" tops the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles tally for an eighth.
